Welcome to the #watchmefly blog! Thanks for taking the time to find out what this is all about! I promise you it will be worthwhile to check back in from time to time. I have lots on my mind and lots to share! I have been blessed with a great life, a great family, and great friends!
I am always making strides to better myself, my actions, my thoughts, my health, and my attitude. I love all my jobs ( my music, my fitness, and most of all aFlyGirl!). I pride myself in being uber healthy and continuously making strides to be even healthier. However, this year, I have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So now my real Journey begins and I invite YOU to take the ride with me. In fact, I challenge you to pick up some ideas along the way to enhance your own life and be the happiest and healthiest you can be! Much Love Tami xo
My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer this year in April and went through a Double Mastectomy. My mother was texting me weekly to see when I was going to get MY mammogram this Summer. I procrastinated and said "sorry not til the end of the summer, if I have breast cancer I don't wanna know til then". Thinking in the back of my head yeah right there is no way! September 16th I was also diagnosed with Breast Cancer and yes of course the whole family was shocked. 2 Sisters in the same year? Sigh. Before we start to sulk and feel sorry, let's think about the possibilities of what can be positively gained out of this diagnosis. ALOT. Sure it did not seem like it immediately, but TIME has passed and I have a bit more clarity. I was presented with 2 options from the doctors, the typical Lumpectomy with Radiation and Tamoxifin OR a Double Mastectomy. To be honest, I felt pretty numb. I was recalling all that my sister had and is still going through this year. I remember trying to gear up for this challenge in front of me and was knocking out MY work schedule so SURGERY was CONVENIENT for me. Early January 2016 was the plan.
THEN... my SUPER-MOM had to start sending me these emails regarding ALTERNATIVE healing and the TRUTH ABOUT CANCER. The documentaries were LONG and somewhat TERSE but packed full of VALID INFORMATION that was LIFE CHANGING. Thanks mom! Little did she know that putting all this information and knowledge in this Virgo-brain would FUEL such a campaign to enter my Cancer healing journey ALTERNATIVELY. Perhaps she did know. Moms always seem to know best even when it seems annoying. :)
So the last 8 weeks I have been on a daily search to find all the tools, information, books, articles, videos, doctors, food, supplements, oils, herbs, cleanses, medical facilities, and advice from others who have traveled the same path. Long story short, THERE ARE MANY LAYERS AND IT AIN'T GONNA BE EASY. This PROCESS involves DETOXING everything about your life! Imagine your daily routine and what you encounter throughout the day. I wake up and get out of my synthetic sheets and put on my synthetic robe. I grab a cup of coffee with Unfiltered city water and plastic K-cup. I take my shower in the same unfiltered water and soap up with chemical-filled washes and cleansers and toiletries and cosmetics then brush my teethe with flouride-filled toothepaste and spritz on my favorite body spray which is loaded with all those ingredients I don't know how to pronounce.... and that was just 60 minutes of my day.
Double sigh. YUP. This is going to be THE most challenging thing I have ever done. For the first time in my life, I feel LUCKY to have been the black sheep of the family , to be the one who always seems to take the path less travelled, and to be someone who always has to learn things the hard way. I don't think I would have the courage or strength otherwise. I double-dare Blue Cross Blue Shield to say NO to my reimbursement forms and receipts! I dare this cancer to spread after I eat NO SUGAR! AND I dare the doctors to keep telling me I need to go get surgery ASAP as if there are no other choices.
My past halloween costumes best describe my tenacity ( SHE-Ra Princess Warrior, Woman Cop, Evil Queen, Devil, and my fav...Batman). I know that TELLING my STORY and letting people "in" is a way to gain strength and heal. So thank you for participating. YOU will help build me up and in the end we ALL make gains. FREEDOM is the goal. I BELIEVE FREEDOM of choice, FREEDOM from TOXINS, FREEDOM from TOXIC people & environments, FREEDOM from an unhealthy Emotional state ALL equal FREE of DISEASE. I look forward to the Journey.
In conclusion, I want to send big thank you, and hugs&kisses to all who have reached out and offered your time, prayers, helping hands, love and support. I truly appreciate it and it definitely helps keep my spirits up! Many have been asking what they can do to help MORE and to be honest, supporting my brand, aFlyGirl, is really the most helpful right now. It keeps me moving forward in MANY positive ways. I have an online store AND I am excited to be hosting an in-home SHOPPING weekend on 12-12 and 12-13!
Lastly, I will be documenting my WHOLE JOURNEY and would LOVE for you to participate! Connect with me via the social media links below to get started! I will keep you informed and there will be lots of interesting information. I am formulating a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to put together a document in hopes to help other people who will have to also walk in these shoes. I will let you know when it has been approved. I want to focus on the positive things that can come out of this diagnosis and help others in the process. Talk soon!
